Header temperatures

I blocked mine off after my first ride no troubles since ,Yamaha has lots of stupid ideas:confused:

Looks great Mike. Let us know how it holds up. I bought my first rivet gun yesterday and it broke already.

Wow bad luck! I used an $11 hand riveter from Princess Auto and to my surprise it worked great! I used to use an air riveter at work lots so was really surprised that it worked good. used short aluminum rivets, can't remember what size they were. 1/8" or a little bigger probably.

Stock and Hindle header.
My guts telling me to block it off. Boondocking, ice build up, freezes, then ride again couple hours later a hunk frozen in there could do some damage where as the stock block off at least prevents from freezing up around a corner of you know what I mean.

Same one I bougbt. It was getting the 3/16's ones in that broke it.

I think I am going to keep an eye on it next big snowfall and ride. Only to know, but will probably block off anyway.

Odd, I used the 3/16" aluminum rivets to put the heat shield under the seat back on, (the one that has 6 rivets) and it was no problem. You musta got a dud! I think I used 1/8" to attach the front block off, it was such a small plate I am not worried about it popping loose, I put 10 rivets in it. Daaaaaammmnnnn that Hindle header looks sweet!!! Too bad its all hidden!

Funny story, last time I bought a rivet gun from pa it broke too. I think I'm going to trade it in for a pnematic one or the 40 buck one.

YA, that Hindle is super sexy!! Once I put led's on the heat shield the chrome will spread light around like crazy!! I thought about cutting bracket off the back so you can see it but decided against it.

Ya thats one thing I like about my Aaen, you can see the whole muffler body, looks awesome.

UPDATE - after riding in deep pow for a whole weekend, I experienced almost zero tunnel icing, top or bottom. Just some snow at the rear of the tunnel, on top, but nothing significant. Just the pack up in footwells. No overheating, and when we stopped it was feeling the heat vent up by your legs. Ya makes ya wonder what the thought process is when they do these things??
