Picked up my RTX from the dealer after repairs from my early season mishap (roll-over). Among a few cosmetic things they also replaced most of the headlight assembly. When I looked it over today I noticed that the rubber skirt that goes around the front of the headlight wasn't very flush with the top of the airbox. I assumed that the two tabs in front weren't engaged properly, as I'm familiar with that common mistake. When I went to remove the headlight assembly I found that it is indeed installed corectly and that the two tabs in front are engaged on the metal nubs. On my original headlight the rubber skirt was definately flush with the airbox. With the new headlight the top of the skirt is a good inch higher and I can lift up the rubber and slide a finger under the headlight. Does anyone elses properly installed headlight fit like that?
I suspect you also bent a mounting bracket under the headlight. You may be able to see if anything got bent & straighten it out.

Everything looks straight and brand new. It seems like this headlight pod just fits a little differently - but I can't imagine that there could be that much difference between different units.
Does the headlight beam coverage good under high & low beam? Every Apex I see has the airbox flush with the skirt if it is assembled correctly.
Maybe the headlight is not mounted right - I would check back with the dealer

I stand corrected Voyagers. I took a closer look today after work and you were right. The horizontal bar that has the 2 metal tabs was bowed up very slightly. The rest of that metal framework looks perfect. It was very slight and so it was hard to even see. I pushed it down a little with my fingers and then reinstalled the light. It seems to line up well now. Not a very scientific method, but it looks right and the 2 bolt holes line up so I guess I'm good to go.
Thanks
Bill
