I really like the look of some sleds on here that have a trimmed heatsheild or none at all. I have excell exhaust and I like the way the muffler looks, mine's just really brown from the heat. My cousin has a detailing business that does alot of work on big rigs so I asked him if it's possible to clean off and he said Spray9 would bring it back to normal. If this works, I'd like to trim mine down or delete it completely and just fab up a new muffler mount. The pics below are what I'm thinking of. For those who have done it, what pros/cons have you had?

I think there is nothing but pros. take her off, trim it and get it powdercoated. If you have the fab skilz to mount ur muffler that is.

I trimmed mine down so it could be still used as a seat mount and it made room for mounting the Doo gas can. My exhaust is under tunnel so I removed the exhaust hanger to make room for some under seat storage and just polished the heat shield to match my tunnel.

BTW the last sled is mine

That's what I'm probably going to do, but it all depends on if I can "de-gold" my muffler. It's got gold staining from the heat and I have seen a few products that are supposed to fix it but it remains to be seen. If I can't get it looking mint the plastics are going back on.
