Can I wire a heated shield plug directly to the battery...does anyone know if Yamaha sells a heat shield plug that plugs in to an existing connector somewhere?

yes, the heat shield wires are thin enough in my opinion that a fuse isn't 100% necisary. the wires would burn out in short before causing damage in most cases, and its mot like you'd have to replace a massive wiring harness. part 2, no idea
