Does anyone know which wires I should connect to when wiring up a heated face shield on an 04 Warrior. Local Yamaha shop said connect positive to brown wire on start switch and negative to red and white wire on start switch. When I plug in the face shield, the starter starts running.
Not Good.

Guys may disagree and tell you to use a fuse and direct to the battery, but (at the recommendation of my dealer) I just tapped into the break light circuit under the handle bar pad. Nice thing is, you just pop the male & female connectors apart for the red & black, respectively, and then push them back together with heater plug-in wires folded inside to make a tight, unsoldered connection. Replace handlebar bad and you're done in like 5.2 mins.
I've done this on a 98 v-max, 04 warrior and 05 vector without any problems.

mine is
My black is tied to the black handwarmer wire, and the red goes to the blue wire with white stripe. It works just fine. Maxdlx

I ran mine straight to the battery, when you run a heated shield through another accessory wire (ex: handwarmers, headlights, brakelights) you are pulling power away from those accesories. I am sure the difference is basically unnoticeable, but it is still there. They use about 1.5-2.5 watts.

When I hooked up mine I was in kindof a hurry and I just ran the black to a bolt on the frame and the red to the positive Jumpstart terminal (Right next to oil tank) I was going to tap into a different wire eventually but it works great and is 1/2 way through its second season like that. I think it only took me 3.3 minutes... lol
anyway it was easy and I didnt have to remove the air box to get to the battery...
the other thing thats nice about running it straight to the battery is its always ready. If we stop in the trail and its snowing I leave mine plugged right in and it stays clear and snow free... I have also accidentally left it plugged in for 2 days before and the sled started right up so it dosnt pull much power at all...
