Seems to me that my heated seat was much warmer last year. Only used it once in the first 400 miles. I had it on the other night as it was chilly, and can't say that I could really feel it through my bibs. I remember that it really made a difference last year when I turned it on. I did start the sled in the garage the next day and turned in on to check it, and it did get warm, but not hot like I remember. Wondering if it has anything to do with rpm and output from the electrical system. I am wearing new FXR pants this year and they are warmer.
Talked to dealer and he seemed to think it either works, or it doesn't. Thought it was unlikely that the element would be weak as it is little more than a big resistor.
What are you other guys with heated seats experiencing?

Last year I think I was too focused on how well the heated seat worked. I got a little worried at times that it wasn't working like I expected it should. This year, I turn it on and forget about it. Next thing ya know I'm turning it down/off because I'm feeling a bit warm. I'm going to guess that it responds better when your moving along at a decent speed as opposed to stop and go driving. I also have FXR pants and the heat goes right through them. Get a few more rides in and see how well it works. My wife tried my sled over the weekend and now she is thinking about wanting a heated seat on her sled.

I agree, you have to sit for a longer period of time to feel the heat, it worked better last year cause we had more snow and the trail's were smoother,so you sit more while riding and you get more heat, this year less snow, bumpy trail's, you tend to stand up more and lose the heat.Last year I think I was too focused on how well the heated seat worked. I too thought mine might have been weak. But like the others said once you sit on it for a long period of time it gets almost too hot. The one complaint I have is the toggle switch for it. I find its very hard to tell if you turned it off or if its on low. I always have to take my glove off to make sure its in the middle position.

I find the heated seat is usually too hot even on low...I wish some of that energy would transfer to the throttle lever!!

hey SnoNinja my wife has the factory heated seat on her sled and last year it was only getting warm not hot then stopped working all together. It turns out the element was bad we got it replaced and the thing will burn your a$$ on high now!. According to the manual you can't test the element. This is true I tested it and still got a reading even though the element was burnt out. If you end up with issues I posted the steps to testing http://www.ty4stroke.com/threads/toubleshooting-the-heater-seat.137737/Thanks guys. Checked it again tonight and it was definately working.
