Heated seat switch

I lost my toggle switch for my heated seat. I was hoping to replace it but I have to buy the whole switch ( over $100 Canadian ) . I would rather replace with a nice marine lighted switch. Has anyone done this ? Looks like the resistors are built in the switch. A bit more involved . Any ideas or info would appreciated.

It is a simple 3 position toggle switch. Also called on-off-on. The switches are cheap themselves.. amazon has them but i dont know how that will work cost/shipping wise in canada.

You can use any 3 position switch style. Most come pre wired so you just pull the old switch off and remate the wires to the new.

If you had this already installed changing to a new switch is no problem. Any switch that is lighted will have its own internal wiring.

I can help you with any other questions.

A lighted waterproof 3 way switch as example link:

You sure? In the wiring diagram it looks as though the switch is the hi/lo resistor for the heated seat.

You can not use any old switch. Get one on ebay and pop the toggle part off and install on the old switch. Better yet, get a lighted one and solder some resisters inline as I could not find any lit and resistance switches.

I’ve looked into this a littler bit when I bought my heated seat pad and WPR seat... to do this cheaply a 3way on-off-on and correct resister will be needed... once that’s determined wiring is fairly easy

The stock switch contains the resistance needed. Aftermarket ones do not. The values are: Low= 4.32K and High 3.75K. The lower the resistance, the hotter it will be. Numbers do not have to be exact however. I ended up with 1/2watt (quarter would have been fine) 3.9K and 4.4K. Never installed them as I am still on warranty and as it turns out my seat element was broken. When warranty is done I will put in the lighted LED switch by soldering the resisters inline in the wiring harness before the clip that goes into the seat. There is virtually no room under the switch to put the resisters.
