Hey guys just tring to git some opinions on putting a heated seat element on an apex xtx 2011 and 2012. first off can the electronics handel it. will it over tax the stator. second has anyone done this mod and how did you go about it? I assume there is a heat element you have to install is it put under the seat cover? is there one brand that is beter then another.

I put a symteck heated seat and controller on my 06 apex.
I had no issues with the electrical system on the sled operating the seat but i would not suggest using the symteck element. The controller is great though and i would recomend it.
The first issue i noticed was it only got warm. Not hot. No matter how long it ran for or how high i set the temp it never got hot enough to feel through the bibs.
The issue i had was the element only lasted about 700 miles before it shorted out and was unusable.
my personal opinion is that the apex seat is just too soft and thats what caused the element to fail.
If you look at a new viper, the seats on those are very very firm and dont allow the element to bend and flex the way an apex seat does

I bought a spare auxillary power outlet for an apex off ebay.
I used the electrical wiring off of it to connect my seat heater. Note that this disables your factory power outlet on the dash, but since nothing was cut, if you want to use the factory power outlet you just unplug the seat and plug the factory outlet back in.
I wanted a connection that would plug into the factory harness, and unplug easily for service.
To attach the symteck heat pad to the seat i used a spray contact adhesive.

Symtec/Heat Demon did have a problem with the elements and made a change to them last year. The seat foam flexing was causing some problems and their latest version supposedly has corrected the issue. EDIT: current version has 3M adhesive on it already
I put two Symtec systems on my Vectors before this season and so far so good. I use their "Dual Controller" and when riding in -10F I eventually have to turn the temp down.
RTX - give them a call and see if they'll help you out! They are a GREAT company that stands behind their products!
