Anyone add a heated seat to their winder that didn't come with one from the factory? Shouldn't be too hard to install?

Yes! I have a SE model that has no factory heated seat. Been using the heat demon. Love it. I have the simple one with on off switch. Just be sure to install a inline fuss. I think I used a 2.5 amp. I would have to check. The outer seat cover has to be taken off and then re stapled

How hot does it get? I’ve been on the fence with one. My viper had a heated seat and there was times when it was really nice on those cold nights coming home after a long ride.

It gets hot! I cycle it on and off. We ride today and it was -13 when we stated. I sat on the seat and it was like a brick of ice! I never would have said this ten years ago. But I will never go without a heated seat again.

Of course it depends on outside temps, but if you are out on day when it is not super cold, you will have to set it at low or your a$$ will almost be on fire.

No it’s not like it’s hot instantly! It builds heat and after you turn it off it stays hot also. If it gets to hot I just turn it off and stand up for 30 seconds. It’s real easy to clucks on off. I do it without even looking down. Just reach up and switch the rocker panel switch. I will say the plug in from heated seat element to battery wire is like a plug cheap wire connector. I just taped it together or replace with a better connector. But it’s still a really good heater kit for the money.

Not sure how long my stock heated seat will last but it’s definitely a nice add on..
Back in January in La Sarre Quebec and last week in Timmins Ontario temps were in the -30’s and it’s nice to feel that heat lol..

I know what you mean. When I first got my sled, first thought was why heated seat?
I did not realize how good that seat heat works at warming your whole body very quickly.
If Cold enough, I do use it for short durations. Really raises your body core temp quickly.

Both my wife and daughter have a need for heated seats in their vehicles, they use them year round and I am just the opposite. So I really did not think I would enjoy a heated seat on a sled, but when it’s cold, yeah man!

My factory one on my 18 Rips. Like somebody mentioned it builds...but once it heats up it gets very hot..to the point that your cheeks are stinging lol. At that point I’ll set it to low or off.

I like mine and I didn’t think I would. And I am impressed at how hot it gets.

Ya I miss the one on my 16 viper le. I’ll probably install one over the summer. Already found it on amazon and in my cart.

Yeah, I too love mine. Like others, it is so nice to turn on for a bit to get your butt cheeks warmed up which helps with your core, and then I shut it off for a bit until a feel a little chill coming back on and then repeat. Especially nice at the end of the day when returning back to the cottage or whatever your end point is at a nice leisure pace. I always chime in on our communicators and let my ski-doo buddies know how nice and warm my #*$&@ is knowing theirs must be chilled!

I am partial to hot butts too.

However on my snowmobile my heated seat even on low is too hot. Wondered if a resistor or rheostat could be added to the low or high circuit to help give you more control.

I added one to my brother's 19 zr9000.. was a very easy install. He got the one from the factory all plugs in easily to 12v accessory and you just have to cut out where the switch goes but they provide everything you need to mark the area. I just used a dremel with a chainsaw sharpening stone and it carved out that small square in no time. Like it was said above, you do have to remove the staples from seat cover underneath and re-staple when done but whole job is not bad at all. Maybe an hour.. he got his from country cat and I think it was only like $130ish
