Heated Visor hookup.

Am I crazy or shouldn't a $10,000. Ten thousand dollar! sled come with an electric visor plug? studdog

You're crazy. I have no desire for a plug. That would just add expense. Name a manufacturer that gives you a visor plug.

You should be able to wire one in for under $5..

just go to a automotive store and buy a cord that plugs into the cigarette port... and using heat shrink connectors and black heat shrink tubing connect the helmet visor wiring to the plug in!

Here's what Yamaha has that fits into the accessory plug on the dash. You can buy the whole kit if your putting it onto a RS sled that didn't already have an accessory plug on it or you can buy just the plug and wire that into your helmet lead if you already have the port on the dash.

I have noticed how helpful you have been on this site when people have questions like the one on this thread. I compliment you on your helpful posts and wish you were closer to where I lived. If you were I would be going to you for all my work! Keep up the good work and nice to see! ;)! ;)!

My buddy ran a cigarette lighter in his 05 Rage last year. . I'll asked him how his was hooked up. Radio Shack should have a adapter with a RCA plug. I'm going to a snowmobile meeting tonight, I'll ask him for the info

No problem - Over the past 3-5 years I have meet so many friendly people from this site that the majority of my riding now is done with site members. Every time I see a post with something I know the answer for I try to chime in - however I don't want to seem like I am just on here to push product as I know how annoying that can be. It also is hard to approach some of the subjects that get touchy on here as I do work for a dealer and have seen way to many posts turn negative. Most snowmobilers have been riding for years and have very strong opinions on what works for them however that might not be the set-up for somebody riding in completely different conditions at a completely different level of rider ability or desire. Another trend as of late is that this site is growing so fast you used to be able to check in every couple of days and view posts since your last visit - now if you do that you get 3-5 pages of posts - pretty hard to stay on top of things and it will only get busier once the season rolls around - which also keeps my day busy. I encourage people to post in our section or get referred to our section if it is something we might be able answer.

Accessory Plug.

I was told to NOT plug a cigarette lighter into the accessory outlet. I was told that the lighter will get hot and melt the tank cover......... You can access the wire for the accessory outlet under the tank cover and splice an electric shield connector to this circuit. this is the safest way to do it, as this circuit is protected with a 3 amp fuse. If you go direct to the battery, you will have the juice on all the time, even when your sled is not running. The other way, your shield will be on only when the ignition is on........ You can use the Ski Doo unit, or purchase one from an aftermarket such as shade treee, automatic distributers, or Kimpex.... :ORC

No, they should come with an auxilliary hook up like doo has. As far as getting a helmet that doesnt fog, I'm still looking for one. heated visor is for back up cause riding with a fogged up lens sucks!

I dont think anyone is saying to use a cigerate lighter in it... just that the plugin is the same as one in a car and used for.. a fuz buster .. a G-Tech.. or a GPS!! Im sure they wont cause it to get hot!
