HEAVY LAKE FFECT

So how are the snowfall totals today? looks like the cold is going to stay for a while!

have at least a foot at my house. its still snowing on and off. i rode edwardsburg and niles this morning.not bad considering this is really the first good snow of the year. the groomers have been out and should be out all weekend. conditions are fair in the woods and a little better than that in the fields( no bare spots). they could be good if the groomers hit it hard tonight and tomorrow.

I had to plow snow again today, then I went for a quick 90 mile ride. Rode part of the west loop for the Allegan trail system but left it due to lack of grooming. I ended up down in Gobels and rode the KalHaven and actually passed the groomer. How long the trail will stay smooth is the next question. I saw a LOT of sled traffic on the Allegan system as well as the KalHaven. They are calling for lake effect all week with 6 to 10 by tomorrow. It looks like I will be going east to Lansing and up 127 to the bridge Thursday.

6 hrs firday night, 5 hours sat, 3 hours tonight. 370 miles. Not bad for first snow/first ride of the year. Hear is what momm'a truck looked like before we left saturday to ride. (that's why we only had 5 hours for sat, took me 4 hours to clean the drive out)

i spent wednesday, thursday, friday, sat in Hurley and the LES never stopped. at least 10 inches on top of about 20 inches already on the ground.

Any good suggestions for a hotel in the south west Mich. area? We may be heading over for the 3 day weekend in 2 weeks. right now it is looking like the weather is going to stay cold. We have trailered to Niles and St. Joe area in the past so we know where to park but are there any cool hotels in the area, prefferably with a pool and hot tub! lol... Thanks

my plan is absolutely yes! but i play in this rock N roll band that can sometimes throw wrenches in my weekend plans. 95% of my riding trips are sunday through wed. i certainly hope to hang wih you again soon rock!

The Allegan motel in Allegan is a convenient location.
Don't know about a hot tub, but they do have rooms with Jacuzzis.

Allegan is NW of Kalamazoo.
Might also check Paw Paw, think they got great snow also.

I just got back from there also. Snowed like a from Thursday Through Sunday. Yahooooooooo. Going back up on Thursday. I got over 600 miles on in 4 days, Would have been more but mechanical gremlins for a few riders with us.

So, what's the word on snow and trails from paw paw down to say...Niles area???? Planning on heading up there next weekend, and hoping the little warm up later in the week doesn't get too warm!! From what I see on fishweb it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of snow in that area, but I've heard they got quite a bit in the past couple weeks. What's the word???

I have a buddy with a place in Dowagiac just east of Benton Harbor. He said they have pretty darn good snow right now. I will call him again this week, but he said there was a ton there and that was a while ago when I talked to him. He is right on Magician Lake so I think I'm gonna head over there and check it out soon...

I hope the highs later this week don't get any higher and it sounds like we'll be good to go!!! let me know what you fine out!!!
