Hi All,
In the installation instructions it says to replace the Secondary Spring with a Yellow one at twist 3-3. When I goto the clutching area in the TotallYamaha area there is no mension of a Yellow Secondary Spring. Would it be closer to the Brown spring or closer to the White one. Stock in my 05 RX1-ER is pink, but I have a spare Green.
Also the weights are the 40-20. It says to install no weights in any of the holes. Is this a good area to start with an 05 RX1-ER with ECP Kit installed or would you suggest a different starting point?
Thanks,
Chris

A LOT of heelclickers and heavyhitters have EXPLODED causing damage and stranding the driver. Are you really sure you want those in your sled?

Did you have the answer to the spring question?

Yellow spring with 3-3 twist works real good on my 03 with ORIGINAL heelclicker weights. I did find a hairline crack in 1 weight (heel) near the bushing. Did the $75.00 UPGRADE swap for the new BILLET wt's. They are supposed to be a heavier wt, thus the reason for no suggestion of adding weight. Looking to make a SHAKEDOWN run somewhere in the U.P. at the end of next week. I'll let ya know.chrishall said:These are suposed to be new and improved. Version 2.

Is the yellow spring closer to the Brown spring or closer to the White spring in force?
I ask this because I have a Pink (Stock) and Green spring and am wondering which is closest to the Yellow one.

I don't know. Have used the YELLOW from day one. 4000+ enjoyable miles. Some in EXTREMELY remote area's alone (HURON MT'S) of upper MI. Never worried about EXPLODING WEIGHTS. But, I do carry the stock flyweights, and tools to swap out if need be.

I've owned 2 sets of heel clickers which I installed on my late sleds (SX, SRX, XTC.) Infact, I still have a set kicking around, the spring forces which came with the kit were very different than Yamaha factory spring forces. The Yamaha factory spring force chart ranged from (let's say)70-160 lbs?, whereas the heel clicker provided spring force was more like (let's say) 280 - 340 force lbs.
When I tried to use the lighter force Yamaha springs I used Bender's cross reference chart provided in their catalog. I'm sure Yamaha has the same info or so do the other aftermarket providers. Good luck !!

The weight will only explode if you blow a belt. been der dun dat blew a belt with hc,s & took out a set of clutches. I was using a slightly frayed belt ; knew it & deserved what I got! The weights work well but keep an eye on your belt.

Now, I have read posts on this forum about the Heelclickers but your comment about the HeavyHitters is the first I have read.

MotorHead,
I believe the numbers you are talking about are the Primary Spring force numbers.
When I go to the "User Clutching Chart" section of TY, I see that people have 2 Pink, 3 Silver and 1 Green Secondary Spring when they have done clutch work on RX-1's. I think I will use this as a starting point to determine what I need. When I go to the "Tuning Page Section" I think it's Turk who suggest a green Secondary, so this is where I will start.
Cheers,
Chris

I'm hoping LB mistakenly wrote "heavy hitters" when he was referring to weights exploding.
I'm sure he'll clarify for us, or let us know what we don't....

Chrishall,
Yeah you are correct, I was referencing the primary spring force but I'm sure you can find a secondary spring force chart to help as well !!
