Does anyone recommend running a different helix? Not sure what the stock one is. I'm always looking for a little more. Something that will work good with d&fs also. Thanks!

ive always heard the 47 degree helix is a good mix of pull and backshift with the d&f's

not to sure which sled it comes off of, but its a single angle helix, I belive turk recommened this setup to people when they would ask for better pull, 14.5 rollers, 47 degree helix and d&f black spring/clutching is what I belive Ive read for recommendations from reading, here are a few posts.

Ive also seen that he recommened a few different muti-angle helix sugestions and weight setups also...

I see that you have an rtx, and most of the posts ive found about clutching for the multi-angled helixs are for the xtx, and the strait ones are generally for the rtx. Ive been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out what is the best setup for me, and I want to put my own "kit" together, because I like to tinker and try new setups, so I have all these pages bookmarked plus a bunch more for quick references...

my girlfriend wants a computer of her own now because I have so much info on snowmachines on it it drives her crazy!!!

The straight 47* was OEM stock for the short track Vipers and a few other 2 strokers.
Generally speaking the short track sleds will come with helix angles in the 43* to 47* range. While mountain sleds are in the 41* to 39* range.
Two strokes usually will come with helix angles on the steeper side, while four strokes tend to be more shallow. This is because the four strokes tend put out more torque and require a little more belt squeeze so that the belt doesn't slip under load.
Four strokes tend to have a stiffer secondary spring as well, for the same reason.
Of course there are always exceptions to this, with the primary concerns being track size, type weights in the primary clutch and the type of riding you do!

I tried calling my dealer to see if they could get the 47* helix, and of course no, so I'll keep looking. I only want to run it when I race. For trail I'm setup alrght.

That is Turks setup for an XTX. I have it on my 09. 14.5 rollers and a straight 47deg helix wrapped to 70 deg. Works really good, I got the rollers and helix from Ulmer. The 47 deg was also stock for the SRX's. Around $110 for a kit that works way better than stock!

Hey natedawgedog! That's a lot of posts! I'm still not sure on what to go with! I'm not sure if a straight or multi angle would be better. I imagine the multi angle has a steep and lower angle that would react as conditions change? But for pure acceleration a straight helix might be better?

it is a very confusing subject if your not really prepared to tinker and test with it.

from what Ive got from previous posts from the clutching wizard (turk...rip) if your looking for pull, I belive the 47* straight helix is a good option with a good mix of acceleration and backshift, but there is I belive more aggressive helixes out there for pull. but for getting good launch off the line then get crossed up somehow and need to back off the throttle and then get back on there, I dont know if they would get the same type of pull because it didnt backshift enough were you need it for that same pull after you got back on the gas... I could be wrong and I hope someone else could chime in with there hot setups and what works for them!

Im still realy new to the 4stroke powerband and this is going to be the first winter im playing with clutching. Ive really only got experience in clutching with zr and firecat non-diamond drive model arctic cats... so im not an expert or anything just relaying what I have found in previous posts in my research in the subject. ;)!

I recall Turk say the Apex 51/43 works well in a Nytro with aftermarket weights....but that's all he said regarding it.

have you contacted all the site vendors that sell aftermarket performance parts? as others have said it is the stock helix for viper and srx so they have to be out there. have you looked over on the 2stroke side of ty forums? i bet ulmer could make you a custom cut helix to do whatever you want it to do with your setup...
