2011 Yamaha nytro
Hello,
I am new to this forum, I currently have a 2011 nytro xtx. I had a 2010 nytro fx prior to this, and a phazer before that.
I purchased a Yamaha premium combination trunk bag (YAM-SMA-8FC63-DX-00) a few days ago on ebay. It did not come with the two cam locks I believe go on the front two straps. I am not sure how the rear buckled straps are mounted. If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it.
thanks. sds

Welcome to the forums!

I have that that same bag on my nytro. The front and back straps both mount to the little plastic cam locks that get rivited to the tunnel.

The straps all tore out of the bag and I needed to have them re-sewn and beefed up. I also added a bungee to help keep the load contained.

These are what the clips look like,

Thanks!
Wave master. It does look like we have the same bags. My rear straps have buckles on them that snap together. Similar to the plastic buckles they use on dog collars.
Looks like they are meant to go around something, and clip in under the bag. I have ordered two of the can locks for the two front straps.

They go under the rear of the seat by the brake light on the sleds I have used mine on. Can't remember how the Nytro seat is exactly formed but maybe that will help????

Have 2 bags that use those , got a pair at local hardware store ( ace ) , also I put a hole and burnt the edge of the hole and run small carabiners in the hole so if my boot catches the clip opening it , the bag doesn't slide off getting damaged by rubbing on the track . Don't ask how I know this can happen !? Welcome !!

I have the combination trunk bag that I used on my Apex GT, Phazer and now Apex XTX. It connects the same way. The two rear straps that clip together will go through the tubing of the bumper and clip to themselves as you had mentioned. The front two go to the camlock clips that you rivet to the tunnel.

The photo above looks like a Nytro XTX and MTX have the bumper so far away and the bag straps may not reach it. My Apex XTX is still close enough to the seat that it reaches. This particular bag does ride quite a ways back and covers the trunk hole in the Apex seat. The clips make it easy to remove and get under though.

Good luck!

It is looking like the easiest fix to my issue with mounting the bags is to find a receiver end (female) for the buckles on the rear snaps that will rivet to the tunnel. Does anyone know where to source these? I saw a similar setup on an older Yamaha at the dealership a few days ago. thanks. sds

The amazon link above in the first response will get you what you need. These are all over ebay as well, but that Amazon price is good.

I take all hardware off and replace with these from Skidoo # 860200138 Cleat Bag Loop. I also reinforced the web strapping with extra strong thread and when one pulls off I sew it back on with a piece of cut metal coat hanger integrated to spread the load on the connection out. Those Cleat Loops have a single bolt mount and the round piece hooks over the Cleat. Makes installing and removing my entire pack easy when I arrive or leave a hotel. Pretty sure I saw something of a similar concept last year at the dealer on a new Viper since it is using Cat accessories but no idea what the part numbers are.
