try www.oregonscientific.com self contained unit. Wish I had gone this route last year instead of the camcorder and gear.

My understnding is that it records to it's own built-in memory (32Meg???) or optional SD card up to 2Gb, but you'll have to look a little closer at the webpage. It has a higher res than the Mini DV camcorder I bought as well. We'll have to wait and see what mxbulldog says about how well his works.

i've bought a couple of the Oregon Scientific helmet cams. they're worth the money if you're shooting in the middle of the day and it's warm out. it's seems once the sun starts to lower to the horizon, anytime you face that direction, the picture totally washes out..... also, when using in cold temps, the camera maybe will stay on for ten minutes. after that you have to warm it up and take the batteries out until warm again. i heard lithium batteries make a big difference though. overall, for the money it does the job, most of the time. if you're looking for a higher quality picture that consistently works in all temps, then you may want to spend the extra money..... oh, also, i can get a hour of high resolution/lower compression (VGA) out of a 2GB flash card.... ebay seems to have the best prices on these. try to find a bundle package with the card included. ends up being cheaper.
