Yes they do make the electrics for the modulars. The neighbor would probably sell his sheild, he never needed it.

Different needs for different locations/weather types I guess. Here in the northeast heated shields are almost mandatory. They keep the breath from freezing up the inside, but even if you have a breath shield, they keep ice and frost from forming on the outside. Thanks for the info. I'll have to let my friend's know. They were the ones who looked into the Doo modulars, and at least toward the end of last season, the Doo dealership we were in said there weren't heated shields for them then.

- 2021 polaris assault 850,18 sidewinder ltx,14 nitro xtx,06 apex rtx,
i have the old modular style from doo, biggest problem i had was the seal between the shield and the face piece that flips up,even with the extra face shield my eyes would freeze from the wind leaking in,i clear siliconed around the entire thing the second year and the last 3 years have been fine 7 day 2000 mile trip in quebec last year with cold windy days no problems, doo does sell a kit to rebuild the outer snaps on face mask, the replacemnt shields are a little pricy so keep good care of the shield $120 us ouch, everyone ive talked to about new style say they like those once you get the flip down thing set up to fit your face,i had a polaris wedge b4 that and always liked that but stopped making that style so i tried the mod and had good luck so far

many of the people I rde with have the modular. None of us have problems with it frosting unless the breathing mask isn't adjusted correctly.
I have rode out west, east and way north. The only time I have had a problem is in freezing rain. I don't have an electric shield (too pricy).
It's great to have a trail smoke with.
I even have a beard and it still seals. They run small, so if your a L, get an XL

kinsound said:I have the doo modular also.... but i have a broken breather.. does anyone know where I can buy just that piece or get doo to give me a replacement.. it seems like a bad design the way my tab broke
Go with the mod....great helmet...as for the tabs...most ski doo shops ( i know, its painful walking into them) sell them in small packs of 4 or so tabs....10 bucks roughly...i highly recommend carrying some xtras...they break when its cold and if you cant put the breathing mask on....you will have an issue.

It could be worse, Artic Crap could have came up with this and we would have had to buy a new one each year!!!
I always carry extra tabs with me.

Thats better than the Yamaha modular mask. About a month after buying the helmet one of the tabs broke, and I need to buy a new mask to get the tab...about $28.00. Not really THAT bad, its just a pain to have to buy a whole mask just for a plastic tab, then I never know when it will break again. I'm tempted to try making a new tab out of some other material, maybe aluminum or thicker plastic. Other than that its a great helmet.

Yea, I had an arctic crap helmet which was a decent helmet. But the heated shield sucked! I had the helmet for a few years before investing in a heated shield. I bought it new before heading to Pittsburg (back when I lived at the south end of the state) and during a few local rides it didn't seem to work that great. I brought it back to the Cat dealer, who tols me it must be the way I had the plug wired in the sled. I went to Pittsburg, and the shield stopped working alltogether. I wound up in the trees because of that. I tried the Cat dealer there to see if I could exchange it, and they wouldn't! It was only like 2 or 3 weeks old. So I went across the street to the Yamaha dealer and dropped over $300 for the Yamaha modular and heated shield. MUCH better!

What do you guys think of the regular Yamaha sno force helmets?
Ive been wearing an MX helmet the past few winters, but got tired of messing around with goggles.
I bought a Z1R Rail and a pair of Scott Hi-Voltage IIs, but the goggles dont fit that well inside the helmets eyeport.
I just bought a sno force from a dealer that was having a sale. I managed to get one for $70.
The one that I bought has the breath shield, so it shouldnt fog up as bad as the Bell wedge I used to wear.
Tomorrow Im probably going to swing by the Yamaha dealer and pick up a mirrored visor.

The only problem with it is the breath exits down the front of your coat and makes a mess of things with the moisture from your breath. That is why the Bombardier Modular is the best, breath comes out the side and is sucked away with the wind (patented).

I got one too near the end of last season. It is a fantastic helmet. Quiet, warm, NO fogging, instant sun shield, LED tail light.
Wierd thing is, that it matches the silver stripe on my red vector pretty close 8)

A taller windshield will solve all your problems.

Doo does make the elec. kit for the BVS2. I ordered one last week(alhtough they are on indefinate backorder). Last year in North of WAWA in -20 degree temps I did experience some icing and fogging, but at -20 I guess anything is possible.
