Details are still comming in, but it has become evident that my 06 Attak with 3800 miles has somehow "dropped a valve" according to my local dealer. The engine wont turn over as something is interfiering with something else. Ill know more in the comming days but has anyone had this problem? Of course, I didn't get the extended warranty. How common is this and there's no way this should happen to such a low time motor. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get Yamaha to cover this?Any help would be appreciated!

I cant see them covering it off warranty, sometimes if get dsm involved there is goodwill warranty. The reason it wont turn over is the valve is between the cylinder head & the piston. The is next to no clearance in the combustion chamber. Likely will need a a cylinder head, piston @ bare minimum. Hopefully the block is still ok.

Push the issue as hard as possible. The one thing they are pretty good about is backing up their engines. That's the keystone in their operation, and their engines are vary reliable, of course there are always going to be a few. As long as you haven't boosted, sprayed, or tampered with it in any other way I would try, and don't except the first NO you hear. If anything try to get them to at least cover the parts.
