Well, the first thing that you do NOT do is go buy another one. You have two choices here;
1) rig something up with bolts and washers,
2) get it welded.
For (1), I would get a piece of aluminum bar that fits perfectly between the chaincase back and the chaincase front (od that matches the inside of the tensioner), drill/tap both sides, and bolt it in from both sides. I recommend (2).

yep thats a good fix....
I know many racers who do this MOD when new....the stock tensioner post is a crappy/poor design and tapping a hole in front side makes it much stronger...
Id do exactly what was stated above...or you will be buying a new case.

You could even combine #1 and #2. Weld the post back on, make a shim to fill the gap between the end of the post and the front of the chaincase, drill, tap, and bolt. Do that and it'll NEVER come apart.

If I recall correctly the 06 and up chaincase is all magnesium.
The 05 RX-1 without reverse was the only sled to get a magnesium cover on an aluminum case.
Many people assume magnesium can't be welded, but it actually welds similarly to Aluminum (as long as there are no sharp edges to catch on fire...). Some welders also use an inert atmosphere when working with magnesium, especially if they are preheating the parts.
(BTW, I am far from an expert at welding...)

Is this still the preferred way? hopefully something has changed in 13 years?
