Ok we are out of ideas. Im trying to remove my muffler because I have a HUGE crack in the pipe just past where it goes from 2 to 1. I can not get the pipe to slip off the header. I've heated it and pounded it and everything I can think of. I cant pull on the muffler because its only one slight pull away from breaking in half at the crack. How the hell can I get this muffler off???? I need help...

I had the same problem. Penetrating oil works, but it will stink for a ride or two. I could not get mine off until one of my headers broke. Then I had to use a sawzall to cut the header off to get the exhaust off of the sled where I could work on it. Once I put the oil on it I was able to get it moving.

If you take the flex pipes off and come in from underneath, work the y-pipes forward with muffler bolts in place

titanium unless you change to the new SS. From what I've read is if ya don't have the right rod it will crack quickly again.

Y pipes are titanium and the silencer shell is stainless.

Is the silencer pipe (pipe leading into the muffler) stainless coated and steel underneith??? The magnet sticks to it but it welds weird???

A magnet will stick to any low grade s.s. That is a good way to tell the quality of s.s.

so then this pipe is made of a low grade ss???

Or titanium. I really don't know which. Someone will know for sure. But a magnet will not stick to a high grade of ss, only sticks to low grade ss.

all i know is when i opend my muffler up to gut it i brought it to local welder and they told me it was ss , not sure about the pipes. the only titAnium is the y pipes if they are stock... i do know that the mufler was double lined so the inside could maybe not be ss.

Yes it can be welded. Had both my Apex and Nytro welded due to cracks. When I replaced my stock exhaust I had the same problem trying to remove the stock exhaust doing everything you described. I finally wedged a 4 x 4 piece of wood flat against the muffler can and hit it with a large ax with a flat 8 pound head (Flat hammer side). That did the trick!
