Boy was riding his 2007 Phazer MTX today and had a large stick go thru the A arms, past the plastic cover, and into the engine bay. Tried to start it but it had engine codes 14 and 26. Brought it home and pulled the front air box cover, all side panels off and had a look inside. The stick had hit under the air box so hard it pulled the rubber intake manifolds right off both cylinders. You can visually see the inlets and the rubber mounts are disconnected. I looked thru manuals and took a quick search on the internet to see how to get low enough in the engine bay to get these re-coupled. Does any one know of a video or manual that will explain how to get low enough in the engine bay in order to connect these back together??

Take off the bottom of the air box, I think its 3 Allen screws inside the bottom of the air box or on the perimeter of the lower housing covered by some small plastic plugs..that is what is holding the lower box in place.. Then u will be able to see what you are doing.. You might be needing a pretty long Allen wrench for one of the Allen screws..from the sounds of it your son might have broken the bottom box if the air horns came off....dont know when the last time u change the oil but since u have the air box off u might want to..you are half way there..
Rigi is right on. The air box is an is remove. The furthest back Allen screw takes a long tool to get at it. Once off you will have full access.
My buddies kid rear ended him with his Phazer and busted all the plastic and the airbox and the fuel rod attached to the motor. It is not that hard to fix. Give yourself some room and get the airbox off.

Are you talking about the 4 philips screws or are there actual hex nuts there somewhere? It still looks like everything is attached to the bottom of the air box. When I wiggle the air box the throttle linkages, other wires and hoses all wiggle as well as they are attached. If I do as suggested, does the air tubes and all come out with the air box? Does anyone have any pics or vids to see how to acomplish this? Even with the airbox removed I'm not confident that I'll have enough room to get in there? I am considering taking off the top panel.
Are the air horns attached with hose clamps or are they just seated on?

I am positive they are allen screws, should be 3 of them..i think you will have 2 electrical connections to un plug and a few hoses, the oil tank vent hose, and a small hose in the upper left corner of the airbox that looks like a vacuum line..there are 3 round rubber plugs about the size of a quarter you will pull off to to get at the allen screws..i think the air horns are attached to the airbox and the allen screw that u need the long allen key to get off is the one that holds the air horns to the throttle body.. i bet your airbox is cracked right there.. sorry i dont have my phazer anymore to get you pics..

and yes, you might have to take off the top panel and the head light.. its easy..

Thanks guys for all of your help! I managed to get it all apart, re-mount the air horns to the motor (which is no easy task) and put back together. Took it for a rip and seemed to go alright. Only thing now, it hesitates to launch when you're at idle and hammer the throttle?? It never did that before, the throttle response was immediate! Wonder what I bumped or hit to have this happen? Any clues or way to fix??

Take a good look and see if there both on Even and Tight against the throttle bodies.make sure that the clamps are also tight.prowler1 said:
