Unless you turn the sled on its back bumper, or are very fast you can't fill the filter before installation !

If you take the time to properly soak the paper element in the filter you will be suprised how much it will hold then fill it half way up,no you won't be able to fill it to the top, but some oil in the filter is better than none and will help the oil pump prime itself and help lubricate vital parts at first start up instead of turning it over dry.

Never ever put a dry filter on anything ever it is the worst thing you can do to the bearings in your sled . The first few seconds of startup its the most crucial time for bearings to be lubed. Even if you just soak the filter paper its better than not. I would rather have a gallon of oil pour outa the filter and all over the belly pan than have a bearing spin dry. Almost a half a litre fits in that filter when dry.

Mikey are you saying that the bearings could run dry for a few seconds because its filling up the oil filter before it gets to teh crankcase? At 60 psi I don't even think it would take 1/2 revolution and I'm not even sure the oil filter is in line BEFORE the engine, I think its after the engine so any metal or contaminits get contained on the way out and not on the way in.
