Hey guys,

I went to the dealer to have my stock sprockets taken off and a pair of 9T Extroverts off a Ski-Doo 440 pressed onto my driveshaft for my Apex. The dealer took off the Ski-Doo extros off a 440 Ski-Doo driveshaft and went to go put them on my Apex driveshaft and they seemed really loose!! So he didn't take off the stock sprockets. But alls he did was slide the extro's up to the stock outer sprockets on my apex driveshaft and it seemed really loose!!

Now heres my questions:

-Is the Apex driveshaft tappered...so if he was to take off the stock sprockets and slide the extros on FURTHER...would it tighten up? Or is the driveshaft the same in radius all the way through??

-Also, I got thinking and was wondering if it would be possible that the dealer ruined my ski-doo extros by pulling them off the gear side of the 440 shaft instead of the clutch side?? That crossed my mind, because that may of stretched them wider, resulting them to be loose on my shaft!

-Just so Im not crazy...the ski-doo 9T Extros are supposed to fit on the YAMAHA APEX driveshaft, correct!?

THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!

That would depend what 440 they came from. Some of them have 1 3/8" shafts in which case that would be to big. The late model 440's have 1 1/8" shafts but a 2.86" pitch. Every year was different and you have to know what your after in shaft size and pitch. There are lots of variables. What pitch do you need? Stock Yamaha is a 2.52" and no, the shaft is not tapered

This should be the sprocket you need for a 2.52" pitch in a 9 tooth extro.

You bought the wrong year doo drivers. I bought 2 sets that worked perfect & now i nor the doo dealer rember what year they were from.

I don't think a lot of the idea of removing them from one shaft and moving them to another either. The sprockets are available seperatley, should be purchased that way in my mind.... FWIW

Exactly, I don't think that you are supposed to remove the drivers from one driveshaft and then try to reuse them. It's a one time deal.

I can't say for the other brands, but I've flipped my Yamaha ones around when they've started to wear and haven't had a problem. You've just got to be careful removing them and putting them back on.

It's not a problem to re-use sprockets that come from the same size shaft. Some of the ski-doo shafts are larger than the Yamahas though. You must know what you’re looking for. A sprocket from a larger shaft is obviously not going to work on a smaller shaft once you press it off. It’s amazing the dealer or owner would not have checked this first.

The Ski-Doo dealer said he can order new 9T extroverts with two different size driveshaft sizes.... 1.04 or 1

He said the above number was for '08 '09 Ski-Doos with a totally different driveshaft.

Your dealer has no clue what he is talking about. Order the Wahls if they dont know what they are doing.

You can still get the extros you need. They are late model Mach Z drivers. For a short period they didn't offer them, but now they do, as just the drivers. Go to a different dealer.

I ran into the same oversized driver shaft problem using the same doo part number that is listed many places on the site.

When I ordered the extroverts, they came WITH and ON the shaft!

This is how I fixed it:

Worked pretty well! ;)!

One caution, the link shows the mounting dimensions for the Rx-1s, they are different on the Apex/Attaks and can be found in another post.
