Help Getting New Vector Started; Priceless Moment

i'm new to it but Not THAT new....The kill switch was off...first thing i checked...but thanks anyways....

I'm far from new at this either, but it got me once. Had to go back after my wife because she didn't meet me at the stop sign. Her Phazer quit. I checked for fuel and some other things and replaced the plugs and pulled the rope until she laughed at how red I was getting. It was her that finally tried the kill switch. Duh!

Turns out her hand came off the grip over a small hill and she must have hit the switch.

Yes It does happen! Pobody's Nerfect! It's a relief to me to know the starter won't turn unless the kill switch is off.

fuel lines

hey.. just a note as far as trailering... if you are going to trailer a lot, it is a good idea to put shut-off valves on your fuel lines. I put them on and it saves a ton of trouble as far as flooding when you arrive at your destination!!! Otherwise as you drive and hit bumps your floats will bobble and allow little bits of fuel to come in. Granted that the fuel pump is not running, but it still happens a little!

That would be a good idea. Last season several members posted pics of theirs after installing the shut offs. I still haven't gotten around to adding them on mine, but you are right. It is possible for flooding (or worse) to happen when trailering with a full tank of fuel.

fired my 05 vector up yesterday. The plugs where wet, I dried them off with a lighter and cranked it with full choke forever until it started. After this first start it started just fine. Just keep on cranking and let it warm up until you can turn the choke all the way off then it should be fine. I was told by the dealer that the plugs should look on the black side as opposed to light brown.

I'd be wondering about hydrostatic lock - maybe you trailered it with a full tank, or maybe you had it sitting on its trailer with the tongue on the ground (sled tilted down). In that case, the cylinders can fill with fuel. If they fill with enough fuel, it can cause the engine to turn over slowly or not at all. If they fill with less fuel, the engine will turn OK, but won't fire and the plugs will be very wet.

Try pulling all the plugs and crank, crank, crank, to try to clear the crankcase, then replace with new plugs. If it still won't fire, it may need to go to the dealer to drain the crankcase of fuel. I'm betting on a crankcase full of fuel.

Make sure your battery is fully charged, BTW.

picked up new plugs on Monday and replaced them Wed. Started right up....no problems. I think i will install a cutoff for sure. Thanks for all the help guys....
