It's the left side that let go and took the speed sensor with it. I have never done this before but everything is going ok so far. I just got the set screws out last night but what's left of the bearing (collar) is on tight and I'm not real sure I should be prying on that collar that holds the driver next to it. Any tips on how to get this old bearing collar off. Shaft is not out of sled. It's an 05 Warrior.

Thanks,
Scott

get a 3 jaw bearing puller....comes right off..
whats your location.....please add it to your profile..

Take the pop rivets out of the inside bearing holder(the one insidethe tunnel) and pull the drvers with the bearing on the shaft. The bolts hold it when you put it back together. Maxdlx

Thanks for the quick reply. Location fixed. Will that puller fit into the race where the bearing goes? Where to get the puller? sorry for the newbie questions but this really is my first experience tearing this thing apart at all.

THX

Thought of another question. Should I replace the bearing on tthe other side since sled is kinda tore apart now anyway (I'm also replacing the exhaust donuts.....or lack thereof :) ).

Thanks

wouldnt be a bad idea since its torn apart to replace both bearings...I slid the driveshaft towards the pto side and was able to get the puller jaws behind...if you cant....you can remove the entire chaincase and slide that way first..
I got mine at harbor freight cheap ...might hit gaylord this weekend if you need to borrow

Maxdlx, thanks for the reply, but i seriously didn't understand that procedure, sorry.

Sj, that would be sweet if you come through Gaylord, I'd sure like to borrow it. I bought the other bearing anyway just in case, as well as a new chain (damn those are expensive). I've gotta get this thing fixed, I'm riding the back up right now (spine buster...89 Exciter). My wife won't let me ride hers, thinks I'm gonna break hers too.

Thanks,
Scott

if you look through the thread it shows the driveshaft bearing and the rivets that hold that plat to the inside of the tunnel....if you remove this it becomes really easy to r&r...I personally didnt

Ahhhh.....I see. I swear when I clicked on that link last night it went to another article, maybe it was just late and I clicked something else. Anyway, i understand now, thanks maxdlx and sj.

Sj, you gonna come up this weekend? I won't have time to work on it til this weekend anyway. If not, i'll try to find a puller somewhere.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Scott

Just FYI, I did get this done. We ended up just removing the chaincase and dropping the left side down after sliding it towards the right first, couldn't get a puller small enough to fit in there without doing this. Anyway, all done, replaced both bearings and chain (old one was a lil sloppy). Nice to be back on it again, that Exciter was kickin my a$$ on bumps. Thanks for the input.

BTW, now I gotta get the right side y-pipe out and hopefully weld it. Was replacing the exhaust donuts and found the 4th pipe from left was cracked on underside where clamp goes. Hopefully have new exhaust coming in about a week so will get it done then. Anyone have success getting a weld on there to hold?
