Any one replace a front heat exchanger on a Nytro?? I have the track out, drivers out and now??

I saw a thread that stated you could unbolt the subframe and prop the motor up.

Anyone??

Now remove the subframe and pull the chaincase side frame. And the exhaust shields around the manifolds if I remember correctly. The exchanger is one of the first parts that the chassis starts off with, to give you an idea.

OK. Is there a tech tread that shows any of this?? Never yanked the sub-frame before..

09 RTX

Also, has anyone just drilled the rivets and put them back in from under the tunnel??

Looks like that might be doable??

Thanks again. I have the new heat exchanger in my hand.

Any threads/pics on subframe dissasembly?????

The subframe is pretty straight forward once you get all the plastic, oil tank, headlight parts, etc off. You can leave the a-arms on and tie rods. Just unhook steering linkage from the steering post. Pull the ecm and volt reg and just fold the harness up and out of the way.

Make sure you put it together with the Yam rivits and not average hardware store rivits. The Yam rivits are big money but are worth it.

heat exchanger replacement

I replaced my Heat Exchanger last season. Quite the job, nearly had to take apart the whole sled. I had parts all over the workshop.
Ditto on the Yamaha rivets, they are a lot stronger than your everyday pop rivets.
