HELP! I've exploded another OEM rear track shock on my XTX

Elkas won't be available for the xtx until February. They are an amazing shock though. Much better than any other shock I have tried. I run the stage 5 on the fronts and it has to be ridden to be believed.

Running the skinz 39" a arms with no sway bar and it is more stable than stock. When I ran the elkas with stock a arms there was not ski lift either.

Another place to check out is Schmidt Brothers. They have zero pro as well as re-build. I was lucky my shock didn't blow the screw just came out causing it to bleed out. He replaced it with a bigger and better stainless steel line.

OK, I was going to go with Elka suspension but they are delayed in making shocks for my sled, so i've opted for the zero pro's as suggested. I found a CDN distributor: http://h2rfoxshox.com/snowmobile/rear-s ... k-kit.html

They don't list the shocks online but they do sell them. $309 CDN and $20 shipping. To service them each year as they are rebuildable, I can ship them back. $40 for round trip shipping and $50 for the service. It makes it economical for me, as a shock service here is $110 plus the cost of oil.

I'm going to send them the eye to eye specs on the front track shock and they will build one for me at the same price. Those specs aren't listed on TY somewhere are they before I go ripping mine out and measuring it by hand.

Thanks for all the help guys. Now I need to find a certified Yamaha dealer that I can ship my existing yammi shocks down to for service before they explode. Our dealer here is technically not allowed to service the GYTR's. Not sure why Yamaha does that to some of their dealers but there you have it.

Also, it appears that Yamaha is no longer supplying parts for their GYTR's so not sure what's going on with those, maybe the new model year will see a switch is shock brand.

Add me to the list with the blown rear XTX shock. Got 10 miles into a ride today hit a big ditch and that was it. Every small bump made the sled bottom. I knew what it was even before I pulled over. Blue shock oil everywhere, it looked like the sled was sitting in a blue Slushee. Looked underneath and saw the 2" split in the shock body. Drove down to Hygear, only 2 hours away, and they will rebuild with heavier body and larger hose. Going on trip Friday, keeping my fingers crossed it'll be done.

So I've put about 500 or so km's on the fox zero pro. Good shock overall. I bottom it if I ride too hard through deep whoops, but for my average riding it is pretty good. Not as good as the stock shock, but that's apples and oranges really without the rezzy, so for the price, I'd def buy another one - may just talk to them about different valving to soak up those hard hits a bit more if that's an option without losing the overall stutter bump compliance.

I exploded my XTX rear shock last weekend also. -10 outside and went from a smooth railroad grade to a rough section of trail, 5 miles into the days ride. Thought the shock just traditionally 'blew' until removing the skid and finding the body sliced open! The rear shocks only had last season and about 800 miles from this year on them after a Hygear rebuild/revalve. (3400 miles total) Upon closer inspection the front track shock needed attention also, Hygear added a resi and it was slowly leaking oil from where they tapped into the body. Not sure how the local shop will fix that one. maybe add a nut for extra support? I could send it back but central WI is in the midst of our 5 minute season, ahhh!
