It melted on the waste gate arm and on the front where the heat shield starts to bend over the top

Does your tank have the thick heat shield? My Apex has the standard heat shield that encloses the turbo, but also has a thick blanket like material attached to the tank at the cutout section of the tank.

talked to dave and jeff today. Yes it did have all the heatshields and blankets on. I checked to see if anything moved and header is still solid. I bent the waste gate closer to the turbo to get it away from the tank. It looked like when it opened is when it touched the tank. And far as the heat shield, it was just on the corner of the very top of it, where it has piece that has the bends in it. What i did with that is put that piece with bends in it, inside the main piece which gave me alittle more room. I'm still worried about the waste gate arm. Maybe the tank that i got was alittle wider in the front. Also i took this tank and drilled the holes in the back of the tank to give me more room, i'll do this on the next one. but don't know if the side panels are going to work as the tank is back farther. As far as warranty goes, 875 miles. I doubt jeff will warranty this. I hope. tis the season:)

Dave makes the tanks, or at least he did on the CPR RX1 kits.

Dave does not make the tanks, he gets them from alpine motorsports. they have the guys who make them

I did the same thing to my tank this year as well. Drilled the holes out bigger to move the tank back a little, seemed to work well.

My waste gate arm is also very close to the tank. I could not get my tank re-installed without hogging out the holes on the back of the tank. It was physically impossible for me to get that tank back on without doing so.

Wished that included in the instuctions. Maybe somebody has a used one for sale. before i bust out another $400.00

Did you check into having it plastic welded? Or what if you were to drill and tap it out and screw in a plastic flush mount fitting? similar to how the fuel line attaches to the tank. You would think you could find a fitting that might work?

Find someone to plasticweld it for you. Check with a good bodyshop. There are so many different ways to fix composite materials that someone should be able to do it. When I built mine I cut my own tank and plastic welded it.I then went over all the seams with two part epoxy to be sure. I also used some pieces of old style asbestos siding to make heat shields on the two flat sides of the tank that I cut the notch into, ken.
