- 2010 FXNytro MTX 162 SE with a 270 hp MCX Turbo and assorted goodies!
Test Rides
I own an 2008 FXNytro MTX, and just this past weekend rode both the 2009 XTX and the RTX SE. The 2009 models are night and day for handleing. No comparrision. I like my sled alot, and have never really been too upset with the agressive handling on trails, cause I spend most of my time off trail. BUT, the XTX and RTX SE are really GREAT HANDLING SLEDS FOR 2009. I would not hesitate to buy either (depending on your need).

Following the east coasts record snow fall, I wouldn't expect a ton off. Probably not many left overs and well, you know what happen to Sox tickets after they won the World Series right? I would expect to pay more following the record snow............

Well, I am now calling around trying to find a "deal", best price so far is $9900 without taking the accessories credit of $600........

Hey Dennis I rode the 08 nytro and the 09se, I can promiss you its not the same sled. The 08 was nervous just like you have read on this site. The 09 was dead straight solid no darting no oversteer (which is what I noticed the most on the 08 on decelleration). I too was thinking of going Doo with my new sled until I rode the xtx and the new doos, the 1200 and the 600...................I ordered an xtx

I am all over the place, I have 90% decided to go with the Nytro but I dont have a dealer that I have a great comfort level with. If I pull the trigger on this I live in MA and it will be either G+G in Salisbury or Billerica Motorsports, both are low $10K range keeping the accessories in the deal, which I need since I have all Doo clothing and god knows Id be the "star" over on Dootalk if I were seen LOL! Thanks for the opinion on an actual test ride. What are the top three performance mods folks would do assuming the handling has been all figured out at Yami???

I think you will love the SE it has an amazing shock package. The fox development team and the Yamaha testing team worked together to get an awesome calibration on the new Float X shocks. Plus the tunnel and rear suspension are both trick. I rode one and the Fox guys really dialed it in. The Nytro was just as fast in the Snow Week shoot out and runs great out of the box plus you have EFI vs. carbs on the Doo. It will be a fun sled! I'd ask either dealer what kind of discount they can offer on clothing if you take the cash allowance instead of the accessories.

Dennis instead of taking the $600 in accessories, which the dealer charge retail for, apply it to the price and go here to buy the stuff.

Dennis,
why not culleys in Lancaster Ma? I got a better deal from them then BIllerica. I live in Billerica and dont even buy oil from that place if i can help it.

As for speed I ran an 800rxp this weekend and who ever got the hole shot would win in the short race or long race niether sled pulled the other. As for fuel milage on an 80 mile trip, the R put in approx 2 gals more than I on my standard FX Nytro. It may have a bigger tank, but he was only averaging approx 12 - 13 mpg to my 16+ mpg. I rode in a sea of yellow this year and now after my buds have ridden with me and tried my sled I am turning the competition Blue. (3) buds I ride with (x-dooers) have snow checked new 09 Nytro's? Good luck if you go yellow?Dennis said:Yeah, I am really starting to lean back to the REV XP, I have been reading everything I can get my hands on and I am not sure what I would be gaining by "gambling" on the Nytro. I like the looks of it, love the warrranty and I really like Yamaha products. But, the 800R is faster, gets similar fuel mileage, handles better and I know I'll like the ergos since my sled of late was an REV X Sled. I really like what I read about the torque of the 4 strokes and I think the Nytro must have great corner to corner power but that is negated by that really small gas tank, something I wasn't taking into account until I read a bunch of posts last night. Not decided yet, but the clock is ticking!

Well, I am taking the leap tomorrow or Wednesday, assuming I can get the deal done in the $10K ballpark with the acessories. I have flip flopped ten times in the past few days but the more guys I see absolutely frustrated by all the xp issues has me headed to Yamaha again. On dootalk nobody has a good word to say about any other sled but I am not sure why since they spend most of the time bitching about their issues and the terrible support and parts availability by BRP.
I had a 98 SRX that had every mod known to mankind, if i remember correctly I think I was in the sled $16K or so, fastedst thing I never rode, would hit 122 MPH like nothing. But, it never broke, never! I spent a good portion of prime time riding trying to get the motor in my 2003 800X back together after it blew with 850mi, and again this year my 05 600sdi mxzx burned down a piston with 1500miles. Both of those sleds, including the SDI fouled plugs regularly as well. My wife has a brand new 07 blizzard SDI and I love it, better than my x, likely due to the upgraded clutching and you cant explain in words how much better a 1.25 ripsaw is over a 1.0 that I had, even on a 600.
Thanks for all the great information. Since I can't leave anything "alone" I'll be looking for the best three performance mods I can make without affecting warranty or reliability!
