has anyone switched from an 07 phazer to a nytro?

I hate being in situations like yours. If there is one thing that sucks is buying something that you may not be happy with in 12 months!

What about looking for a used Phazer and a new Nytro? Or, I have seen a few people on this site who is trying to sell their Nytro due to their own personal issues...maybe you could get a deal from one of them.

jds, the only place i haven't checked is where you got yours. we looked at 2 phazers over the weekend and could get them for just a little more than the price of a nytro, (that yellow and black nytro is pretty cool), i wouldn't mind a vector but i called a couple other places and they didn't have anything other than the GT (or whatever it's called now), it's so similar in price for what i could get a nytro for i figured that (the nytro)would be the better way to go. the only problem is i can't swing right now a phazer and a nytro/vector. but we could do 2 phazers, they are 07's but they only want 5K for each. we really want two sleds at the same time, and to go to a vector/nytro i have to wait and order in the spring, just can't swing that much right now. i just didn't want to drop 5 grand on a sled i wouldn't be happy with.

Well it would get you and your Wife back into sledding. I think for our trail system the Phazer will be a blast and at that price if you want to upgrade in a year or two you won't be taking a huge hit like you would on a 9 or 10 grand sled. Plus remember the "little" one, that phazer would be great to start a kid on.

07 Phazer Fx to a '09 Nytro RTX

I had an '07 Phaser FX last year - ( I weight about 140 lbs - 5'8") - I will admit the Phaser was a fun little sled - a bit tippy when I first got it, but we played with it A LOT .. and got the front end working really really well- in fact I really liked it you felt NOTHING no hard hist at all in the front I had no problem with darting and it really was a fun little sled no doubt about it.... It was a bit under powered and would not pull itself out deep snow... ( off the groomed trail) and there was one snow bank (about 4-5 feet high) and we just could not get it to go up it- we got of it and and tried to lift the back end tried tugging it and blurbing throttle it was NOT going up .. so I had the joy of running a gravel road why my buddies ran the whole way in a nice field.. :(

I sold it as I was JUST not at all happy with the rear end on it at all .. (some say if the rear ski a frames are slightly bent it has a big impact on the suspension) I found the rear skid very very very rough and almost as if it was mule kicking me in the #*$&@. I had a local shock revalver revalve the shocks it helped a bit but was not the perfect setup.. I also bought a softer spring up front for the rear skid and it was better for sure but not PLUSH ..

Fun little sled for a quick toot - 1-2 hours ... but we would go for 6-8 hour rides and it was just BRUTAL my knees were killing me as you tend to have to ride it like a bike, and you'd twist your body and knees in the foot sturps to try and lean it over and get you knee down for lack of a better term...

Bottom line fun little sled really liked it .. only sold it because of rear skid...
although i will say it caused one our buddies to sell his sled... with a quote of " like #@@%@% I am going to get schooled by that stupid thing .. he had a 800 polaris and in the bush the phaser really handed it to him... LOL he was ANGRY !!! ( we ride HARD real hard)

The phaser has a pipe on it a clutch kit and went pretty good... but was to the bar in larger fields...

I JUST bought a '09 NYTRO RTX - stay tuned for my thoughts on that ,, but from what i gather its got a "stiff" rear skid as well .. ARRRG !!!!

phazer vs rtx

Well from the sounds of it, you are jammed in a tough place.
The phazer is a nice sled for the twisties, a wife, or a kid.
In straightaways you will be dissapointed, as on the lake or off trail. This sled only has 80hp and it shows. My buddy has one, and he can hang in the tight stuff but hes not happy with it and hes upgrading this year. Some things people have failed to mention is the open tunnel flinging snow. Also my buddies phazer rtx always sends you home with wet boots. Its not just cheap boots, every guy thats ridden it ends up the same. Like another guy said, this is a good 1-2 hour sled. this thing wasnt meant for 6-8 hr rides. it just doesnt have the creature comforts for that. and who wants to ride that long in wet boots?

Wilson you coming off a m-10 suspension or what? what rear skid was it that had u riding on a pillow?

I had a Phazer FX in 07. Great little sled, very nimble and fun playing around with.
But the 80hp is not enough power, traded it for a nytro RTX the following year and have no regrets.

I had a 07 phazer GT. Went for my first rides on my 2011 nytro xtx this weekend. Love the new sled.

It is very comfortable to stand up on both sleds. They both loved the bumps. The nytro is heavier, but I didn't notice much when I was riding. The extra power is great. The floatation with the 144 is amazing.

i was in the same predicament, ended up with a apex and love it. plan to trade my raptor for a used phazer for ditch bangn then ill have best of both worlds.

i was in this situation before last winter when i was buying. i was new to sledding and the phazer seemed like the most sensible choice, as i didnt want to kill myself with an overpowered sled under my new feet. in the end i went with the nytro for the power difference. i figured that if i bought the phazer, i'd soon be looking for more power once i got some experience. boy am i glad i went that route. i've pretty much learned to ride with the nytro and its been a blast, and every upgrade and tweak i make, makes riding seem easier and funner since i only knew a stock nytro.

I live in southern NH, and we have one of each. I have the Nytro, wife has a Phazer. For local trails - narrower, tight/twisty, slower - the Phazer is more fun to ride. When we go up north and the trails are wider and faster, the Nytro is more fun. So it depends a lot on how and where you ride. Ya - the Phazer is "only 80 hp" but it has a lot of low end grunt - just doesn't have top end speed. Don't write it off just because it doesn't have 100+ hp. Anyone else remember when a 440 was a muscle sled?

I bought my '07 Phazer FX brand new and am on my fifth season this year. 6500 miles later I still love it. But having ridden 700 triples (SRX and SXV) since '99, I must say I do wish for more power at times. I ride with several friends on Apex's and Nytro's and can keep with them and even pass in the tight stuff 0 - 55mph, but on the long straights they do walk making me wish for more. I went to the Phazer for better suspension and can now say this 48 year old back does not hurt like the old days on the 2 stroke triples. I love the ergonomics of the Phazer and could never go back to sit down style, even the Apex to me is not comfortable or well positioned. My next sled will be a Nytro unless Yamaha has something better coming in 2012!
