Hey guys, hoping someone can give me a hand. I bought an 08 Nytro RTX from another TY4 stroke member this past fall. I then hurt my back and have been unable to ride it very much, like 4 miles total. But I did notice a bit of oil under the sled.

I did however take it for a ride this past Friday night, about 30 miles, very gentle ride as my back is still not right.

Went out this morning and found a good amount of oil under the sled. I have read a lot about oil in the airbox. Which the sled has, but it smells a lot like gas and oil. It had a pre filter on it, and it was soaked with oil and gas. The bell pan cover was coated as well as most of the parts.

I started the sled after I had cleaned everything and could not find any oil leaking. I let it run for a while to warm up and then burped the throttle a few times. That is when I noticed a white fluid coming out of the oil line leading into the airbox.[/img]

any ideas? From what I can guess the oil was running down as parts leading down to the oil tank were oily.

** Update** just ran the machine and checked the oil - I Know a little late dummy- and it seems to be way over the H mark. This could be the problem? Does exess oil get pushed up that venting hose?

When i had my 500 mile oil change/check up at the dealer they over filled it and it puked oil out the breather into the airbox. I had oil running everywhere and thought the worst. That was the dealers diagnoses when I brought it back to them, sounds as though that may be your problem

Thanks for the reply. The guy I bought it from was real careful with his gear, but mistakes can happen. There is oil everywhere, it is all I can think of at this point. Im going to try and drain it tomorrow and take it for a rip. Buy some stock in Yamaha, if they make those little plastics clips, they are going to sell zillions.

Oil Leak

Check to be sure the last time the filter was changed that the o ring was removed so not to be doubled up now.I had this happen was fine for about 100 miles then it blow oil everywhere!!!

I let the dealer do my first oil change as well just so it could go down in their record books. Figured it was a safe guard against refusing me warranty in case something should happen and they blame me for doing something wrong. Needless to say the dealer overfilled my oil too. Puked a bunch out and made a friggin mess. I just took a syringe and sucked out the excess until the level was about half way between L and H.

had the same issue as deerhunter, they over filled the oil and it was pushed through the vent tube which feeds into the airbox.

Those damn plastic things.... you dont have to buy them from yamaha, you can get similar ones at a auto parts store. I got mine at napa.
