Was out riding today when I noticed the smell of burning oil. Popped the plastics off and took a look. The shield around the exhaust header is full of oil. Valve cover gasket? It's a 2012 with 5000 miles. Been supercharged for about 1500 miles. Leaving on Thursday for the North Shore. Not much time to get a gasket and put it in. Any ideas?

How much boost are you running? I have seen them blow the valve cover gaskets if you get a back fire.

7psi, have never had a back fire. Can't remember where I routed the vent hose. Gotta take it apart, can't see anything. Most of the oil is on the clutch side of the motor. How much boost are you running? I have seen them blow the valve cover gaskets if you get a back fire.

Could be the vent is pushing oil mist.. maybe find a new routing.

doesn't seem likely to me the valve cover would leak. just had mine off and back on. very good sunken reusable seal. I literally didn't even pull the gasket out of the cover. I bet it puked out the breather and somehow got to the rear of the engine. Are you saying you have the tank out and can see no problem with vent or cap?

I have blown them out at with a supercharger even at low boost but it was from a backfire. When it goes it blows the lobes on the end of the valve cover.

Update. Valve cover gasket is fine. Oil spray was coming from the oil tank vent hose. Had it tucked in behind the battery. Recently did an oil change, oil level is a little over full. Rerouted the hose away from the exhaust. Crisis averted! Thanks for the input.
