Hope I can get some advice. Replaced the infamous axle bearing on this sled this evening, and when we replace the front cover of the chaincase, the reverse will not pull back. It binds up. We have not started the sled yet, only tried to "dry shift" it to reverse before filling with oil, and moving onto skid installation.

We are getting the forks correctly in the groove on the lower gear. My bud really tightened the compression spring and bolt that holds the gear on that the fork rides in, could he have overtightened that? Can someone please let me know if there is a torque spec for that compression spring and collar, and if that is not the problem, can I get some help on why when we get this case back together the reverse shifter is jammed into forward??

So you all know, I have read and read on this topic tonight, and have not found anything that matches our problem.

Thanks guys

It sounds to me like the top reverse gear might be a little bit out of allignment and preventing the bottom gear from sliding over. Did you make sure that the little spring was still in between the smaller gears and ligned up? that helps keep everything lined up.

I doubt that the torque on the compression spring would cause this. Roll the track a bit and try it again?
