Hi all,
I replaced my drive axle as a preventative measure after 8,200 beaten miles on my 2005 RX1. After reassembling the chaincase reverse does not work. I read a thread about new installs and think I know what I did wrong. I didn't have the forks in the groove of the driven gear??? I put the cover on and did not think about it at the time. Any tips or ticks to get this right the second time? I kept parts in order and referred to an expanded diagram. The linkages were not altered. The reverse lever is stiff going into the forward position. No grinding during test but I didn't drive it. Both lever positions give forward gear only. I disconnected the linkage and it mover freely with no resistance. I assume I should feel the spring tension from the gear?

You have to remove the linkage and flip it up by hand as your looking into the edge of the cover to be sure to drop the forks in the groove on the lower gear... its tricky so take your time.

That was good advise. Followed your instructions and got it together correctly, reverse now works. Thank you very much!
