Help with front suspension tuning

Hello to all. I'm new to this site and hope this terrific collection of experts can help. I have an 03 shorty, 5k miles on it, all Quebec riding. I want to improve the handling by modifying the front end. From what I'm told I should install new front springs 2.3kg/mm, a 12 mm or 11 mm sway bar links along with the longer links. Will these changes make a significant change? Any other reccomendations? I have not done anything to the rear suspension yet. Thanks!![/b][/i][/u][/code][/quote]

I think this will give you a place to start. I just did all the recommendations there and will check them out this coming week. I had allready put in the 11mm bar and longer links.

RX1JIM........... YES the up grades are worth the investment.
I put on the longer links last year with the stock 10mm bar and it helped a lot.
This year I replaced the 10mm bar with the 11mm from this years rx-1. I also replaced the front springs. All Yamaha parts. Last years springs were progressive where this years are straight rate. All the changes help keep the front end from the initial "dipping" going into the corners. The bar helps spread the weight transfer to keep the inside ski from lifting.
Word of caution. When replacing the links and bar (11MM from Yamaha)
You need to make sure the links are the newer part number from the 04''s and you also need to replace the bushings. Last years up-dated longer links will NOT fit this years 11mm bar as the spline end is 1/8" larger in OD.
If you need them , I can look up all the related part numbers for you if it will help.

I WOULD PUT 12MM SWAYBAR, LONGER LINKS, 2.3 FRONT SPRINGS & TIGHTEN LIMITERS 1/4 INCH!

I did this to my 03' shorty & it helped a ton!!!

I will second what BRX-1 said. It makes a huge difference with those updates.

I'll say it one more time, all that is needed for a huge improvment is to install straight rate springs.

I agree with mxz 900 the springs are more important then the others, but just to give you guys something else to spend money on, I made all those ghanges, and then I changed the rear schock in the skid to an ohlin's with the lighter spring and that seemed to help a lot, so I have since read some posts from both the manufacturers and men on this forum that rear skid set up affects ski lift in corners quite a bit.
