Ok I have ordered new shocks (long story) but I have to take everything off the old shocks. Problem is that I can not take the bottom nut off the shock without removing the valve assembly!
I need to remove #23, #24 and #25 to install on the new shock but #26 is in the way and won't let #25 thread off. Now I have never taken a shock apart before but if I remove part #26 will I not loose the shock pressure and have to recharge the shock. The blow apart calls #26 an airvalve.
AD Boivin said I have to remove the adjuster assembly (#23, 24 and 25) and install on the new shock. Have not got the new shocks yet so I'm at a loss right now.
Yes you will have to remove the fill valve. Do you have a local service shop or sled dealer that can service shocks? They should be able to do this for you. In Winnipeg my Yamaha dealer does oil changes & recharge of shocks regularly. On a side note the threaded nut & sleeve are lock tighted in place. After the shocks are emptied warm them to about 300 degrees F to break down the lock tight and you won't damage the sleeve or nut. If I can be so bold why are you replacing the shocks and how much each.
