Just finished working on a xtx. Guy wanted to run a 144 track with 2.52 drivers for more selection of tracks
I went with 10 tooth 2.52 pitch avid drivers(around 500$ Canadian) and it leaves about 1 1/2 " of adjustment after tightening track.

If you have a 2017 or 18 you will need to replace the adjuster bolts with a allen head drivers studs
part# 8jp ra194 30.

Great info.
Any side profile pics of how track fits in tunnel and snow flap area?
What track did this person decide to use?
I planned and prepared to change to a 144" track when my sled was new but I ended up liking the Back Country 1.75" 141" track so much that I have not done the 144" conversion...yet.

This can be done without a tunnel extension?

Sorry he pick it up today I forgot to take pics..
Not really much difference maybe 1 inch with
10 tooth driver.
He went with camso ice cobra 1.6 with studs at the end of lugs.

I did the same thing. Wanted more traction so went to a challenger 144 cut down to 1.5 and installed 2.52 10 tooth drivers.
Only modification was on the rails tips. It may depend on your suspension set-up.
This is the best mod I did to my 141.

Great info! Opens up for many track options now.

Any idea if this would work on a 2017 Viper XTX 141" ? I too would love an Ice Ripper track...

Was there any changes to the gearing ratio?

yamamarc:

So far I plan on staying with the Back Country 1.74 x 141 that came on my sled but I am curious to which 144" track people were installing on their 998s

Hey Bob this guy put a a ice cobra 1.6! Not a fan of this track seen many with torn lugs.
I think he originally wanted the 1.5 cross-country track (2.52) but I was out of stock at the time

Availability of popular tracks the last 2 years have been slim

Depending on what you want to do:
Herw is what I actually run, the Challenger 2" cut down to 1.6 because I use to go off trail.
If I was going for speed I would choose the Cobra 1.375 in two ply with studs.

? for Marc, does the clearance in the tunnel change much with the 10T? Just curious if it effects stud length options?
