Wow it has been along time since I have been on here...I used to own a 2003 RX1 (not boosted) and was on here along time ago...
well I am currently looking for another sled and I think I might of found one..just wanted to get a bit of a heads up from you guys...
I will also be doing alot of reading but anything will help...
I am also wondering how reliable are the S/C'd motors and what kind of costs are involved with them...??
can you run just pump gas or do you need race fuel??
currently I am looking at a
2007 Apex with 2800 mi it is black in color and here are the mods...
162 TRACK ,
MOUNTAIN FIT HOOD,
MOUNTAIN MOD SEAT,
SLYDOG SKIS,
MPI SUPERCHARGER (260 HP is what he says),
HAUCK EXAUST,
ICEAGE RAILS,
TIMBERSLED DROP BRACKETS,
COLD AIR INTAKE,
MPI ROLLER CLUTCH ETC...
Does it have a headshim or low comp pistons in it? MPI reommends race fuel mixture in all their setups. See what internals are done if any. 260hp with stock engine would strickly be race fuel only. I can get away running pump fuel at 14 lbs. but I have a headshim, lowering compression.
S/C Are dam near flawless!!!! Just due the required maint. Head shim will be the final factor for gas or race fuel. At 260 horse sounds like a stage 1 with the pulleys reversed. it should be running 10 lbs. at this configuration. Does it have a A/F gauge? (IMO this is required) If it does have a shim you will want to run a 92 or 93 octane gasoline. You can run lower octane to get out of a jam but you will need to keep your thumb out of it!!!!!!
If you want to go to 5 lbs of boost by switching the pulleys around you can run 92 or 93 octane with no problems at all going full throttle all day
If there is no shim and you want 10lbs. you will need the race fuel!!! ( Wich may explaine the extra fuel tank)
Either way- Very reliable power compared to turbo sleds (IMO)
Good luck!!!!
