Anyone else notice a hi-pitched whine coming from the right side? It gets more pronounced when riding hard. It's barely noticeable after the sled's cooled off. I suspect it's the chaincase & w/all the recent chaincase failures, I'm wondering if anyone noticed the whine just prior to the chaincase failing. My chain is properly tensioned & the oil level is to spec.

I noticed the same thing this weekend in Manitoba, Canada. Turk said his was whining also. I will be pulling mine all apart, cause I don't like the noise. I noticed the lube is dark on mine, and will change to clear Amsoil synthetic before the next ride.

I noticed the whine in mine as well. When changing my top gear to 23T I noticed alot of gear wear from the chain-not good! This is only at 400 miles at the time. The chain is basically digging itself into the teeth of the gear. Most of this wear is on the small reverse gear and top sprocket. Also, replaced the fluid with Amsoil, still experiencing quite a bit of wine. Almost sounds like a supercharger!
Are you sure the chain isn't too tight? I had a chain too tight on a friends Viper and it made that type of noise.

Yeah, I'm positive the chain's not too tight. This same noise may have existed on my Viper but perhaps I didn't notice since the 2-stroke was noisier than the 4-stroke.

Best be looking at your chain case. Remove belt and rotate with track elevated. Feel for any roughness as you rotate. Top bearing or jackshaft bearing chain ? Change to Mercury lower unit synthetic while you are in there.

Supercharger whine, ya........that's it!
I was telling everybody that it was like a Polaris brake whine, but the supercharger thing sounds better.
Will check this weekend. I have another 23 top gear, if it looks like it is has wear, I will replace and see if it does it yet.
So the Amsoil didn't change the whine?
