hey group
i was wondering if some of you have high mileage rs series and did you have some problems with the engines they seem to be bulletproof what about oil consumption? the reason why i'm asking that is that i plan to trade my old rx-1 for a nytro next year

I'm at 6700 miles, No problema anywhere yet. I tend to ride between 7000 and 8000 rpm on the straights.

9,804 miles on my RS Venture. Will go over 10,000 miles tomorrow.
Motor has been perfect, other than the TORS issue last year, and two gummed pilot jets due to summer storage.
Does not burn any oil!
The Genesis 120 motor is pretty remarkable.

I'm thinking the motor will last 100k,but the chassis will be pretty tired by 15 or 20k.What do you guys think?

I have experienced as you put miles on the sled the suspension actually loosens up which makes it easier to steer and becomes responsive.
Just a guess, maybe this is a built in factor by Yamaha in order to keep up with the motor.
I am going to get 25,000 miles out of this sled for several reasons. Much depends on riding styles and trail conditions.
I don't like to beat the sled but, there are times where you almost don't have much of a choice when miles of trails that are totally rutted and trashed.
During the season I am able to ride almost every day. Often I will ride during the week because the trails are in better shape and weekend traffic can be avoided.
My little strategy coupled with the maintenance required to make the sled last, and hopefully go the distance.
