Thanks spray25

Thanks for the info but I doubt that you took the seat off to get at the front bulkhead, didn't mean to be a jerk, just trying to get the info to get my sled fixed. I'll just print out the diagrams and figure it out myself. I was hoping for some exact advice on how to get the bulkhead off but that didn't happen. Thanks anyways....

I'm not sure why you don't believe me, but it's true. That stuff has to come off in order to slide the top part of the frame back far enough to get the studs out of the bulkhead.

Taking the seat and tank off are actually quite easy. You MIGHT be able to avoid un bolting the steering, but I haven't tried it that way.

If you come up with a way to get it all apart without moving the top frame let us all know.

Weld it

I broke the front bolt hole(that holds the lower A-arm) off on mine, I grooved it out and welded it in December of 03, It is holding just fine. Sounds like it might be a bit late for that, though.

I would weld it, if at all possible

Bulkhead Conclusion

Well, I had to remove both halves of the bulkhead and ordered up:
2 bushings, 1 Bulkhead half, 43 blind rivets, and a service manual.
The old bulkhead has been thrown in the weeds as compost. Thanks to those who emailed with hints and advice, it helped allot!!!!!!

One question, has anyone compared the assembly manual to the service manual for the 2003 Rx1, is the assembly manual worth ordering up?

THanks again!!

Glad to hear you got it apart. Were you able to get it apart without removing the top frame?

40+ rivets? Youch that sucks!!

RX-1 bulkhead

The two halves of the bulkhead sled forward once everything is unbolted and the rivets were removed. I don't have the service manual but I've heard it recommends taking more of the sled apart...?

My new parts and service manual come in Next Wed or Thur so I'll probably spend the weekend of 16/17 reassembling. I'm going to use Loctite 242 (blue) so things don't fall apart once assembled.

have a great weekend!!!

My brain wasn't fully engaged last night....... Taking out both sides would mean you wouldn't have to remove the upper frame. I think I spent to much time in the shop the last couple of days...... Two sleds now have low comp pistons and one bulkhead has been replaced. Unfortunately I have about 3 hours of finnish work to still do!!!
