Well went to the local GM dealership and picked up a couple of brand new tail gate cables. The one's I bought have the eye on one end of the cable. I would have picked them up from the auto wreckers but they wanted the same price as new so screw them. I then took the hack saw and cut off the slip lock end of it so it will act as the scratcher and not catch on anything. Installed so there is always a downward pressure on the scratcher. Used two stainless 5/16 bolts 1 1/2" long with two washers and a nylock nut. Anyone going on the Manitoba TY ride will be able to see them in action and installed. These are installed in basically in line with the edge of the track so the the snow thrown up will be going right where it is needed. Total cost $36 cnd and should last the life of the sled.
