So, leave my house today for an all day ride. Get 2 miles from my house and feel what I think is belt slipping - but what I now know is sled going in to limp mode. As I come up to a road (maybe 30 seconds later), sled idles for another couple of seconds and then shuts down. I was not on it hard just prior - but wasn't coasting either - going maybe 35 to 40 mph. After motor shuts down I get off and see oil pouring out around skid plate. Never ran it again. Took it to dealer and found that at the 500 mile service, the tech never checked and there were 2 oil filter O rings there and the oil was blowing through. Not sure how much oil was left in motor. Dealer cleaned oil up, replaced filter, drained and changed oil that was in there - ran it and gave it back to me. I rode it today for awhile and ran it wide open a few times - had it up to 85 to 90 a couple times for a full minute here and there. Seems fine, no overheat light and no noticable loss in power. How would you guys handle it? I'm obviously not happy - it's a hack thing to have happen at a dealership for sure. Anyway, opinions? Thanks.

If it doesnt have extended warranty the mistaken dealer should give it to you.....I would be pi55ed!

You should be alright if it went into limp mode soon enough.
But, ask your dealer document it and stand behind any future issues.
If not and maybe for your piece of mind, reported to top level Yamaha.

The dealer is a good guy - I don't think he is out to screw me or anything. He didn't try to hide what had happened - came right out and aplogized and said it was their fault. I have a receipt from them documenting the 2 O rings and the oil loss. The sled does not have the extended warranty - hadn't thought of that - maybe that's my approach - 3 year YES at their cost. Anyone happen to know what their cost is? The quoted me $550 or so for the 4 year (1+3) when I bought the sled. Trying to be reasonable - but don't want to be stuck with a $3500 bill either.
I would ask for the 4 year extended + 1 year you already have. It Cost 499.00 from port yamaha. This isnt about a nice guy or not but the fact that your motor maybe a ticking timebomb or has lost reliablity with it. I would want the insurance to backup the 2 o ring mistake. If that dealer sells/goes out his word is worth nothing. They send these guys to school to work on these things and it was a major mistake. Dont let there mishap cost you down the road because they where sorry. Hope things work out for you....
