How are you changing your Hyfax?

Ok,

Have not done this on the RX-1 yet. On all of our 2-strokers we just rolled the sled on its side and pulled them off. What do you do on a 4-stroke if you do not own a lift?

Can't you get the rear end up in the air and set it on a block under the bumper or something? The problem is going to be getting that stupid screw loose. Cat was way better about this since the screw just passed through the rail and had a nut on top of it. All you had to do was loosen the nut and the screw fell out. Once that is done though just take a hammer and a punch and start from the front and drive it out through a window in the track.

Once you get the hyfax started out the window of the track, just grab the track and spin it in the reverse direction. This will peal the hyfax off the rails. Some people w/ reverse have started the sled and ran it in reverse, but I just spin the track in reverse by hand

Yup, the reverse method works well. Start at the back, pry down a few inches and poke it through a clip hole. Fire up the sled in reverse and give it a gentle rev. Pops 'em right off. Just be careful not to let the track spin too much after the hyfax are off.

I most often take two channel lock pliers and peel them off the side, loosen the track as much as possible.

I really like the reverse method idea, need to try that next time.

If you can't get the middle of the sled high-enough - roll sled on the throttle side, to get a good grip with a #3 Phillips, on the screws. Then tip it back up and raise the rear.

Stick two long, standard screwdrivers through the windows, between the hyfax and the rail. As you work the track backward, the screwdrivers catch and lead the hyfax through the windows. Then give the sled full throttle until it starts and run it in reverse, as previously posted - if you have it? Takes about .7 seconds and they're laying at your feet.

i BOUGHT A HI FAX REMOVEAL TOOL(SLED HAMMER W/ 5 LBS WEIGHT) LIFT BACK OF SLED UP,PUT SCREW INTO END ,SCREW INTO HIFAX,THEN PULL 3 OR 4 AND THERE OFF!!

I started to pull the slides through the window but found it to be somewhat difficult. First I took the screw out with a number 2 phillips bit. If you are having some difficulty, use an impact screw driver. This works great! I removed the rear in that I wanted to inspect it anyway.
good luck!

Allready posted if you search...You can use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the rail where the philips head screw is. This will loosen up the lock tight and it comes right out. Reverse works great.

I just pull my skid and change it on the bench. Takes about 10 minutes to have the skid out on the mountain sleds.

i always used to pull the through the track window and roll the track, but on a 05 the slides are too wide to pull through. now i have to pull the suspension which isn't a big deal with how easy they come out and go in. with the issues they have i figuure it's a good idea to look'em over anyways.

The Reverse trick with the hifax thru the window is the way to go. Also I replaced the piece of )%&- Philips headed screw on the front of the hifax with a allen head screw of the same type I got at a nut & bolt shop near me. Next time I will not have to struggle with the screw.
