What is the best way to remove and install the new carbon seal on the primary clutch spider on a 09 apex

The part you have in the picture is the “clutch cover” The “clutch spider” is the component the rollers attach to.
The best way to change the cover “bushing” is with a shop press.

Do I need to lube the bushing when pressing it in

no don't lube just press it in.

I just replaced mine but damaged one trying to press it in myself. Tried the heat/cool method but only got bushing in part way and trying to get it in the rest of the way damaged it. Ended up having a buddy with a shop press install them and went in like butter.

I use a tab of blue loctite before pressing in and let dry overnight. You can buy a bushing tool https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Yamaha-Snow...sh=item4466b2dc77:g:zsMAAOSwm7Jfhfgh&vxp=mtri I have one works great for all bushings primary cover, inner bushing , and secondary bushing. also works on putting new bushings in helix's. On mine it has two part #'s ys-42424 and kl-0417L

My buddy has a press at his work so he is going to try to press it in for me this week. Thanks for the suggestions
