I've been looking at some 4 strokes lately and I was thinking of a 136" track length to ride 2 up better than my 02 Viper. I was thinking that it would take a passenger better and still be fun when I go alone. I have seen a nice 05 RS Venture and I'm wondering if I should go for a 2 up sled instead of trying to ride 2 up on a sled that wasn't designed for it. My question is how much fun is a Venture if I go alone? Are they just about as much fun as a RS Rage or does it feel like a big boat ?

I ride my RS Venture all the time by myself. Take the passenger seat and backrest off, strap a back pack where the passenger seat goes and off I go. It actually isn't bad to ride solo. The longer track soaks up the bumps better than a shorty. The only thing that is getting old is the seat position. I wish it was higher. All in all i would buy this sled all over again. The only bad thing about it is Im always the one pulling people out of the woods. As far as two up riding its the only way to go comfortably for driver an passenger with plenty of torque to haul you around. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

That is good to hear. I guess I'm a little nervous in that I want a 4 stroke that will work good for 2 up, but with the weight and length of the Venture it would be like driving a tank. I don't think the seat would bother me since I guess I'm old school that way and I find my Viper seat comfortable. Is there anything to really look for with these ? The one I'm looking at only has 2400 miles on it. Any good mods to make it better? Thanx for the reply. Oh yeah what kind of gas mileage do these sleds get ?

You sbould look at newer ventures,09 and up,much more comfortable to ride as your sitting much higher than the older ones,i have a 13 and love it,its actually alot more fun solo than with a passenger, lol

I can average about 17 mpg. I agree with pat the rat the newer ones (GT) would probably be a little better but if you do get the 05 the cam chain tensioner should be replaced if it hasn't already. Other than that they are pretty much bullet proof as far as the motor goes. The sled is definately heavier than your viper but the weight and length aren't noticeable while driving. I prefer longer track length for ride and cornering. I would like to try a newer venture with different seating and efi. Again the GT version. I think the regular Venture is still exactly the same as my 06.

I haven't riden an older style RS Venture so I cannot compare the two versions. I own the Venture TF (similar to the GT) and a Venture Lite. And I must say the seating position on the TF is much lower and doesn't feel as rider forward as the VL and therefore not as much fun to drive. I find it much more diffiecult to be an active driver and use body english on the TF.

Yeah I can tell by looking at the pics of the older to the new Ventures there's a much different seating position. The only reason I'm looking at the older ones is simply the cost. I can get a 05 for about half the money of a newer one and I'm on a tight budget unfortunately. The fuel injection on the newer Ventures would be nice to, but I can't have everything I guess. LOL. Thanx again for your replies and your time. I hope to have something soon before the winter is over.

My Venture is my first 4 stroke and I really do still like it. They are good snowmobiles and I also paid half of what the new ones are. Had it for 4 seasons so far.

I had an 05 RS Venture and rode solo most of the time. I put over 19000 miles on it before I traded it in on a 11 Venture GT. The 05 was a great sled. I would not hesitate for a second to get another one. I have over 11000 miles on my 11 GT, it has been a good sled also. The 11 does put you in a more rider forward position, but for half the money I would go for the 05. Good luck., the long 144 track is a great all around length.
