I'm driving on the interstate right now pulling my triton sled trailer. It has the standard 10" or 12" wheels and bearings and I maintain it well by keeping bearings well greased and tires properly inflated.

As I cruise down the interstate at 70, I often wonder what exactly is the max speed you should pull these trailers? Any thoughts about this?

Thx in advance gents,

Mike aka SS

When I had my trailer like yours, I always ran 70-75 and never had any issues. I always repacked my wheel bearings in the fall and always carried a spare! ;)!

Well thats the speed i always pull at , keep tires aired up to max and they wont gen. heat and blow out . I have a buddy that has a triton with a cover and he pulls at 80 to 85 all the time.....

I regret to say I'm just helping a friend move, not sledding. But the UP could see 24++ inches of snow between 2 systems Sunday and Tuesday, so I reckon that's where I would go if I could. I myself have a jury trial that will most likely go all five days here starting Monday, so no play time for me...

Thx guys! And btw, I will deny to my grave as to partaking in any surfinf TY while driving... ;-)

i got pulled over by a cop few years back said
65mph max the trailer, two place.

maybe he just trying to bs me.

What are the max pressures you guys are running on your tires??

I have been told a few times, running your tires to the Max psi is not a good thing, as the tire heats up obviously so does your pressure so you could actually be over inflated.

Thoughts?

Max psi should only be set with cold tires. The amount of pressure increase under normal conditions is factord into the tire constuction. Never exceed the cold max psi that is on the sidewall of the tire.

Thanks Yamafreak and Livinlife.

Livin, so you "DO" run the max cold PSI on your trailer tires?

Currently, I think I am running 40-45 psi but I forget what the max is currently?
When the Vector is loaded and only it, it does seem to flatten the tire out some.
I will see what the Max is fill it closer to that if that is what most recommend?

90 psi rated tires inflated to 90 and I run 70-75. Just got home from Gwinn and ran 75 mph all the way. Air 'em up and run 'em!!

Irv, max psi and hammer down the road. Tires will run cooler and handle load on trailer better. Also imo, dont get suckered into the cheap no name tires. Some have luck with them but most dont.
