I have an 07 Rage and my secondary "floats" on the shaft. Is this the way it is supposed to be? My friend has a 05 venture, he was told by a dealer the his should not float He seems to be blowing belts way to quick, less than 500 miles. What might be wrong? alignment, tension, or both?
What is the normal belt life for these 3 cylinder models?

Mine lasted 4000 miles. Secondary needs to float. Check alignment and make sure clutches are not binding.

Yes, secondary clutch floats by about 1/16-1/8"
All four of the Yamaha 4-strokes I have had or currently own were like that. '06 Nytro, '08 Nytro, '06 Apex, '10 Vector
Eating belts in 500 mi?? Yea, something is wrong. Alignment? Wrong belt?
