How many miles would you go on an oil change?

I have about 2,600-2,700 miles on my sled since the last oil change. I imagine I will put anywhere from 250-500 more miles on the sled before I put her away for the summer.

Would you do an oil change now? I just would feel like I wasted oil if I only put 500 miles on new oil then changed it again at the end of the year.

I am running the recommended Yamalube.

I have 2700 on mine this season, so no. I personally would not change the oil until you're ready to put it away. Today's oils are much higher quality then decades past, and I just read where [experts] are saying that passenger cars could extend their intervals too.

What I WOULD/HAVE done is grease the drive axle bearing, and jack-shaft bearing though - I found water in both ;)

When in doubt...get the book out ;)!

I'm in the same boat with miles but I am going to change it, $21 for the yamaha semi synthetic- 3 quarts is cheap insurance to me!

the new RS Venture gauge also has an oil trip readouts which tracks when it’s time for an oil change

every 1,000 mi. then i change it and at the end of the season, i do the oil and filter change and put her to sleep

We typically put on 1500 miles per trip, so I change it when we get back after each trip, except for the last trip, I leave the oil in until I am sure we are done ridding at home. After each trip I just drop the oil.
For summer storage, I drop the oil, clean the screen, and change the filter. And try real hard to get every drop of old oil out.
Then grease EVERY bearing, stabil the gas and put her back on the trailer.

stick to the owners manual.anything else is overkill.
