This may have been covered already but how many miles did it take to lossen up your motors 5,6,7 hundred miles, more .i have heard the more miles you put on the stronger the motor gets,is this true do i have more power to look forward to :4STroke:

I can only talk about my experience with yammie 4-stroke cycles. All my cycles felt better after 5,000 miles.. So you can maybe guess that a sled would be closer to 1,000 miles. Don't expect a big gain just sutle gains in gas mileage and seat of the pants get-up and gooooooooooo!!! I can always tell the motor is getting broke-in because the idle starts to edge up after the miles add up. The best thing you can do for your engine is "NOT" to hot rod it on a cold motor.. All my cycles have had a lot of trouble free miles with this method. My current cycle has over 50,000 miles. My last three before that had. 35,000/40,000/37,000. Hope this helps.. MM. ;)!

On my dads 04 Rx right when it hit 300 miles its like it gained another 15 mph, all day it would only hit 110 mph on the speedo then right when it hit 300 miles i hit 127 mph on the speedo on the same spot. I havent noticed the engine get any better and its got 2,000 miles on it now. Feels just like it always has. And like mm said make sure its warm that goes for anysled heck that goes for any engine.

I agree with Topgun something happened between 300 and 500 miles seemed like it got longer legs or something :D Let it get loosened up a little and you will be pleasantly surprised ;)!

I noticed that at 480 miles I couldnt rev over 9k at 501 miles it reved 10k I think there is a rev limiter for break-in I may be wrong.

FWIW, on my older Yammies(and older style tracks)there always seemed to be a point (200-300miles) when the whole sled seemed to "loosen up". At the time I always attributed it to the track limbering up. Probably we are seeing some engine, some chassis, some track wearing in effect. PS Older sleds were 2-smokes. RR

More of a stock clutching problem than a revlimiter..

MY stock clutching would only allow 9800rpms..

Now that it is clutched it will go 10,300-10,500

I have installed new tracks on old sleds and have found that a new track is very stiff and after a couple hundred miles I could really tell the difference. I just put a 9854 on my RX-1 with 8500 miles on it and I bet it picks up performance after the first week-end.

I would say after 7-800 miles, and oil change. Motor seems to smooth right out and work better. course it is hard to compare with mine cause I installed the turbo right away from new.

My sled must have broken in quickly. There is a road that I like to do speed runs on if the conditions are just right. Here is my results: 200 miles on sled=122MPH, 1550 miles on sled=122 MPH, 3300 miles on sled=122 MPH. Of course all of these were on the speeedometer. also gas milage has been 15-16 MPG since day one. This was on a Warrior.

I never noticed a performance increase until 1700 miles. That is when I installed a turbo.
