how many out there with suspension woos on a 05 rx1

They told me that the Monoshock skid is very easy to remove. According to them, all you have to do is loosen the 4 bolts that hold it onto the tunnel and it slides right out.

Might work for the mechanically inclined, but as a non-tool user, it doesn't work for me. Putting grease in the zerks took all of 2 minutes. Now I have to pay a dealer to replace the bushings. Bad design, period.

Matt my friend, dont worry! I think you are very likely to find they will put a number of improved parts on your sled for free before winter. Wierd thing is they might charge you $60 to install the zerks.

The monoshock is one of the most elegent and brilliant designs I have ever seen on any snowmobile component, and does it ever work good too.

Yamaha wanted a new skid for the 05 RX1 come hell or high water. They perfected it late in the game and rushed it through. Also 05 was a huge weight reduction year, the engineers might have had a weight target they had to meet.

Once again I ask, how will buying a Cat fix that problem?
I understand your frustration, but I fail to see how switching brands would remdy the situation.
Just talk to any one of the people who bought '05 Polaris Fusions and had endless problems with them and yet Polaris has completely denied that there are any problems with them. Polaris has now made changes to the '06s but isnt offering any updates to fix the problems of the '05s.

Polaris has done the exact opposite. They have admitted there are a lot of problems and they are replacing motor mounts and a lot more at no charge. A friends Fusion9 just got replaced with an 06 at no charge because it blew up. This is the first sled in a long time the Pol put out that is a lemon and they recognize it is causing a bad rep.

Hopefully Yammi will do the same with 05 Skid.

I just thought I would chime in to combat the senseless negativity towards Polaris that I read on this thread.

Matt i pulled mine out this past weekend if i can do it (you know me) anyone can. Then again i still gotta get it back in there LOL

Yep, my wife's father is getting re-married in August. We plan to fly over for the wedding. Of course, I have a side trip to Minnesota planned so that I get get the sleds in for a service, maybe wash and wax them, and possibly polish the chrome if Cubby starts posting again.

Geez Steve, removing the suspension must be a breeze if you can do it.

Tork, I don't have the tools like you nor the facilities to make it happen.

I agree and overall I am really satisfied with the 05 RX-1 and the rear suspension. I'm not too upset about the lack of zerks, just disappointed because the "rush to market" is something more typical of the other three rather than Yamaha.
